Unveiling our new series “UNBINNED” - an unfiltered look at the food waste problem

Food waste is a silent epidemic, but at CHOMP, we're determined to give it a megaphone. Our core mission has always been to redirect perfectly good food away from landfills to the people who need and enjoy it most. We believe that ending food waste isn't just a goal, it's a necessity.

Yet, we know that technology alone can't solve this crisis. It takes a community, armed with awareness and driven by purpose. That’s why we’ve launched a new content series titled “UNBINNED” - a bold, unfiltered series, fronted by CHOMP’s Founder & CEO Carla Martinesi. The series was sparked by a powerful conversation between entrepreneur Simon Squibb and Carla, where he asked Carla “what’s your dream?”. Inspired by the encounter and Simon’s advice, we're taking up the challenge he set and creating 10 pieces of content that bring the urgent realities of the food waste problem to the forefront.

Why we've launched UNBINNED

While the CHOMP food-saving app provides a direct solution, we know that lasting change also comes from education and awareness. UNBINNED is our way of deepening the fight. The 10-part social media video series is designed to show the stark reality of food waste, share the stories from the front lines, and arm you with the knowledge to make a difference. It’s about being transparent, honest, and showing the problem for what it is: a solvable crisis.

Already out: Episodes one to three

The UNBINNED series is now live on CHOMP’s Instagram channel, and we're hitting play on this critical conversation from every angle.

Our first episode cuts through overwhelming food-waste statistics with a powerful, relatable analogy. We use a single grain of rice to illustrate the massive scale of the food waste problem in Hong Kong, making an almost unimaginable crisis suddenly tangible and shockingly clear.

Then, in episode two, we got practical with a reel of items you didn’t know expired. It’s a quick guide to help you reduce waste in your life - not just in the kitchen!

For our third installment, we take viewers behind the scenes of a major source of waste: the all-you-can-eat buffet, which is very popular in Hong Kong. We answer the question that haunts every eco-conscious foodie: what happens to all the perfectly good food left at the end of the service? This episode highlights how the CHOMP app provides a direct solution, connecting buffet surplus to our customers through ‘buffet-box’ concepts available on the app (currently in collaboration with our partner The Astor at Eaton HK).

Join the mission

This 10-part series is unfolding now on our Instagram, discussing a new, eye-opening topic with each episode. Every day, we’re dropping a new, short, and powerful video. You can expect raw interviews, behind-the-scenes looks at food rescues, and frank conversations about how we can all be part of the solution.

This is the heart of our mission, beyond the code of our app. We’re building a movement.
